Abstract
For Many years the effects of consuming alcoholic beverages has raised eyebrows. However, this behavior wasn’t so openly discussed as a social problem until the late seventies early eighties. As we look back to our ancestor’s generations, this behavior wasn’t considered a social issue or even a problem for that fact. As a child, you looked at this behavior as just being socially polite. In the last thirty years or so, it has become increasingly difficult to overlook this problem as if it was nothing. The root of the problem can be placed one’s own demons or on society. Any way we dissect the cause of the problem, it is apparently clear we live in a society where alcohol abuse is affecting our loves one with a great emphasis on our youth in a traumatic way. It is my desire to briefly address the highs and lows of driving under the influence. We’ll also take a look at the positive actions the highly publicized activist group *MADD* (Mothers against Drunk Drivers) are spearheading. It is my hope to address the components of this serious issue in plain layman’s terms.

Introduction
What is drinking and driving anyway? In all practical terms we can simply define this term as a person operating a motor while under the influence of alcohol. Progressively the issue of citizens getting behind the wheel of vehicle while intoxicated is steadily increasing. The biggest issue we’re realizing is the spiral downfall of our youth. The object of this brief research paper is share facts and statistics levels of significance in observing the effects of alcohol has become on our society in terms of death, as well medical conditions as a result of alcohol abuse.
