The Effects of Internet
In the history of mankind, the Internet is the greatest development in the domain of communication industry. Internet has tremendous potential and a lot to offer in terms of services. Internet is a source of information. There is a huge amount of information available on the Internet for just about every subject known to man, for example from government law and services, market information, new ideas and technical support. The history of the Internet began with the development of electronic computers in the 1950s.The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite to serve several billion users worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies. The Internet carries an extensive range of information resources and services, such as the inter-linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW), the infrastructure to support email, and peer-to-peer networks. The Internet has forever changed the world in both positive and negative ways. The Internet today is in many ways seen as an essential to life. The Internet enables one to find information any time of day, as well as provides convenience with regard to such activities as paying bills and it is used in the workplace, school and home. Many positive results have come from the invention of the Internet. One positive that has resulted from the Internet is the fact that you are always able to access research information anytime of the day or night. The Internet allows greater flexibility in working hours and location, especially with the spread of unmetered high-speed connections.

    Through the past several decades the advancement of technology has evolved. Among one of the advancements was the Internet. The Internet is a worldwide of networks connecting millions of computers. Through the Internet countries are able to exchange data, news and opinions. It started in the 1960’s when the internet was originally being used for government which later evolved to the world (Computer history museum, 2006). Over the past forty years the internet has changed technology of computers and how the world communicates, online banking, social networking, and online shopping. The Department of Defense issued a twenty thousand dollar contract on December 6, 1967 for the purpose of studying the design and specification of a computer network (Internet History from ARPANET to Broadband, 2007). It was conceived by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) of the U.S. government in 1969 and was first known as the ARPANet (Computer history museum, 2006). The ARPA laid the groundwork which later became the internet. By 1992 the Internet has one million hosts (Ganna, 2006). Through the years the Internet has changed the way people live and run businesses. My project will walk through the discovery and evolution of the Internet.…

Since its creation in 1983, the Internet has continued to grow in popularity and use as a commercial and private communications medium. Millions of people throughout the world use the Internet in a variety of ways, ranging from personal conversations to on-line shopping. According to a survey compiled by Nua Ltd in 1999, the number of Internet users rose from 26 million in 1995 to 205 million in 1999, an increase of almost 700% (Nua Ltd)! With such an explosive increase, how then has the Internet affected us personally, and how has it affected the way we do business? The answers to these questions include changes in the way people obtain information, interact, work, learn and conduct business.<br><br>Given the Internet's original purpose is to share information, it is no wonder that the most important asset of the Internet is the wealth of information that can be found on the Internet (Maney 3). Information previously found only in libraries and encyclopedias is now available on the Internet; in addition, news, weather, and movie listings are also made available on the Internet. Internet users constantly remain informed of the world around them by reading news from the New York Times, USA Today, San Jose Mercury News, Los Angeles Times and many other newspapers found on-line. Even those like myself who are far away from home can keep in touch by reading local newspapers published on the Internet.<br><br>Along with the vast amount of information, the Internet also provides almost instant sharing and distribution of information. Through the use of electronic mail, people all over the world can "send information to far-away places cheaply, easily and in great volume – much more than any medium before it" (Maney 3).
