The effects of too much freedom in Malaysia

Firstly, the effect of too much freedom of media in Malaysia is not a good thing because the media will often publish topics regarding the Malaysian government without their concern. The freedom of press protects the right to obtain and publish information without government censorship. Furthermore, censorship occurs when the government examines publications and productions, they will prohibits the use of material that is offensive. Freedom of media applies to all types of printed and broadcast material such as books, magazine, newspapers, movies and even radio.

Secondly, censorship is a growing problem in Malaysia as it attempts to adapt to a modern knowledge based economy. Malaysia is one of the worlds strictest country in forms of media censorship, over hundreds of movies and reading material banned in Malaysia.The movie industries nowadays often display the negative side of a country in a political way and even in the act of violence. This why the movie industries should not make a movie however they like.

Thirdly, there are many unlicensed use or possession of printing illegal headlines in Malaysia which could effect the minds of the people about the government. Journalist are often given guidelines by the prime ministers office when reporting ‘sensitive’ materials, and media self-censorship is encouraged. The internet gives people too much freedom because they often post sensitive materials about the government. This will result in a negative way to the government because the admin will publish topics regarding about the government which is not true but it is agreed by their followers. The government will usual investigate and harrase bloggers and cyber-dissidents who publish materials which is not valid regarding towards the country.
