Male rage can be a good thing and can sometimes be a bad thing. It can occur in various ways. Sometimes if someone looks at a man in a wrong manner, he may feel a certain way and that’s with an female also. A man can often get mad, but let the anger build up inside until he feels the need to let it out. Some on the other hand, may let it out when they instantly get mad. In books 7, Sunjata was upset and wanted revenge. They waited to see if he was asleep by hearing if he was breathing. They hit the young man in his head with clubs. They beat him until he cooled off. (Sunjata 1180) He was angry because Dakaron kill the little boy when he really was trying to kill Sunjata. Sunjata felt bad because the little boy died instead of him. He was also mad because his brother, Dakaron, was trying to kill him. He stated “This is the act of my brother.” (Sunjata 1247) “You see this? I will kill this young man. He died my death, I will prove to them that I am not the one who …show more content…
died.” (Sunjata 1255)
Mothers love is unconditional love. Every human should feel as if their mothers has their back through anything. Sunjata’s totally had his back. Dakaron Tuma’s mother puts a curse on sunjata so that we wouldn't be able to walk. She clearly stated “If you don’t go right now, Your man will kill someone immediately.” (Sunjata 1264) This was the moment where they we’re about to depart for exile. By showing her love, she removed her ankle bracelet and a silver bracelet and gave it to Salgado to get them over the river so Sunjata wouldn’t kill the his brother. (Sunjata 1290) He would take them without anybody in Manden knowing. Their father would be angry, that’s why sunjata’s mother did what she did. She knew what Sunjata was capable of when he was full of rage.
Power is having the ability to do something or act in a certain way. In this poem, many people had power. In some cases, power has to be earned. Sunjata was basically born with power. His father was an king and his mother and sister had magic. Without knowing that Sunjata had left the house already, the young men went in there and thought it was him. Sunjata had strength that no one had. He went in armies on his own. The young men tried to warn Simbon and tell him that nobody could’ve taken Sunjata down. “Man don’t you know who Sunjata is? One man cannot outdo him, two men cannot outdo him, even seven of us cannot outdo him.” (Sunjata 1170) Instead of killing Sunjata, they killed the young man.
In conclusion, the West African Epic Poem of Sunjata was based of the different things that Sunjata went through throughout his life.
There was trials that he had to overcome. Everyone was happy for him and impressed with his duties during the exile. They realized that he was powerful and they knew that he was going to overcome any obstacle. He basically built an empire that everyone wanted to join. Even though Sunjata’s brother, Dakaron, wanted to kill him, Sunjata didn’t stop his journey. He was still aiming to get to the top. Sunjata shows that anybody has the ability to be what they want to be. It also shows that there is no such thing as giving up. “Everyone has the stregnth to overcome hard
times.”
