According to a former National Cancer Institute Director Dr. Richard Klausner, “The history of cancer research has been a history of curing cancer in the mouse. We have cured mice of cancer for decades—and it simply didn’t work in humans.” (Cimons 1998). One way is using petri dishes and Human cells to see how they react to different chemicals and bacteria. The human cells are more relevant than testing on animals. Artificial human skin like Epidermis are human skin cells that are grown in test tubes. Testing on artificial human skin is more accurate and can have better results than testing on animals. Microfluidic chips are lined with human cells which create almost the same functions of human organs. Computer models, reconstructions of human molecular structures, predict the toxicity of a substance, which takes away the need of testing on animals. There are many other ways of testing and experimenting that does include hurting animals and killing innocent creatures.
