“Evil enters like a needle and spreads like an oak tree”. This proverb from the country Ethiopia is not a very nice or light hearted proverb. It basically means that evil can come in unnoticed but if you wait long enough it will spread into something massive that can’t be stopped. This proverb has proven to be true in many places such as germany or in modern day islam with ISIS. This essay will prove that this proverb can still be true in modern times and in literature with using ISIS, Hitler, Stalin, and the Witch and Wizard series.

The One Who Is The One comes into power without anyone noticing and starts to take everything fun away (Patterson 1-40). The One Who Is The One was patient and that let him gain control with no opposition. This is also why it seems like he came out of nowhere. Before whit and wisty could do anything they are attacked. Whit and Wisty are pulled from their house and put into custody for no reason (Patterson 1-25). The One Who Is The One has taken over the justice system and has started getting rid of people who oppose him, all of which happened within the night.this ultimately led to the death of Whit’s girlfriend Celia. He came into power too fast and no one stopped him. The entire nation is taken over by the main antagonist and Whit and Wisty are fighting to stop it (Patterson 1-300). It is now a race against time to see if they can beat him before everyone is wiped out.They will also need to try and find their parents while they are doing that. This shows how bad things can get when an evil person has a lot of patience and a lot of time to get things
