However, I argue that people often think of the consequences and disadvantages of the Smartphones and ignore the benefits to it. I agree most of us (students) use their smartphones during the lecture for playing games or using social media or texting and try to multitask. We students think we are paying more attention to the lecture, but it is not 100%, and don’t set our priorities. This is why I think older generations didn’t support much on the idea of using these devices as much, as the younger generations fail to give their undivided attention to a particular task. Multitasking is a good thing, but one should know where, when, and in what way it’s supposed to be done. Today, people tend to multitask more and faster compared to how people previously worked. As even in Benitez et al. article based on their research, “the results show clear increases in the number of task combinations that are multitasked from the older to newer generations.”(Carrier et al, 2009).
