The Falconer's Knot Summary
The book The Falconer's Knot is a novel about a boy named Silvano who leads an average life until he is thrown into a full-scale murder mystery in which he is a prime suspect. The novel greatly demonstrates everyday life in the early Renaissance era. It demonstrates issues with women’s rights. It also takes you into the everyday lives of people living in monasteries. It does a very good job giving an accurate picture of what life was like for the main characters back then. The book The falconer’s knot gives an accurate depiction of the lifestyles and laws that were in place in early Renaissance times.
When Silvano is accused of murder his father tells him that if he is caught his punishment will be death. During that time frame prisoners who were captured for the small(big) crime of murder were put to death. By various different terrible ways of execution. Most often the only way to escape these terrible punishments was to run away. That is exactly what he had to do in order to escape the authorities. Treason and Murder were among the crimes that were punishable by the death

The city was called Giardinetto which was a fictional city that was used for the book. The Poor Clares and the friary was also invented for the story and were inaccurate historically. Two characters in the book Simone Martini and Pietro Lorenzetti were both real painters painting at that time
In conclusion the book The Falconer's Knot was very accurate in depicting the culture and the way people lived in the early Renaissance era. It depicts the way law enforcement was carried out and the potential punishments that could be faced. As well as showing the roles of women and where they fell in society. The lives and duties of people living in convents and friaries is also shown in full detail and accuracy. The story also had some invented locations and characters used throughout the
