The Fault in Our Stars
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is one of the most impactful books I have yet to read. Hazel Grace is a normal girl, a normal girl who happens to have a side effect of dying, cancer. Then there is Augusts Walters, Gus, who has survived cancer. He is living life to its fullest choosing all of his actions by their metaphorical resonances. This is there love story Hazel Grace and Gus meet at a support group in the heart of Jesus. The whole beginning
Hazel is wondering why this beautiful new boy is staring at somebody like her. But they make a connection when Gus says that his greatest fear is oblivion. Hazels response is “There will come a time,” I said, “when all of us are dead. All of us. There will come a time when there are no human beings remaining to remember that anyone ever existed or that our species ever did anything. There will be no one left to remember Aristotle or Cleopatra, let alone you.
Everything that we did and built and wrote and thought and discovered will be forgotten and all of this will have been for naught. Maybe that time is coming soon and maybe it is millions of years away, but even if we survive the collapse of sun, we will not survive forever. There was time before organisms experienced consciousness, and there will be time after. And if the inevitability of human oblivion worries you, I encourage you to ignore it. God know that’s what everyone else does.” (1213) I suppose that is what sets the story into motion. This made me come to know how what we all have accomplished so far will be looked at hereafter. Hazel and Gus’s small infinity together starts when Gus brings her to his house to play video games and do normal teenage things. No matter what is happening with their health this brings me to realize that they are still a human being. No matter how a person acts or if a person is ill, we all still like to be treated as equals. It helped me with a new outlook on many things.Of course Hazel has feelings for him, he’s kind and attractive and more alive than anyone else she knows. She really doesn’t see her friends much since her parents pulled her out of school and when she does its just not the same. Like any perfect boy Gus enjoys reading, as does Hazel grace. Their interests help bring them together as a couple. This section of the book inspires you to find common interests with people that you just meet with. It is easier to keep a conversation going when you have similar hobbies. While reading The Fault in Our Stars, many points in the book have inspirational moments that motivate you to change something in your life that you are willing to change. The chunk of inspirational motives in The Fault in Our Stars, will help you greatly with what you are willing to change.

When he is in the city he runs into a so called “blind” preacher on the streets. The blind man was preaching that there is a God and that people need to give to the church through him. Hazel was very upset about this and started attempting to preach that there is no God and they need to follow him when he starts a new church without a God. When Hazel goes to the place where he is staying, he finds out the “blind” preacher is staying there too. This really makes the situation worse for Hazel. One night Hazel went into the “blind” man’s room and lit a match to see if he was really blind. He had been lying about it. He was just a crook after people’s money. He was using God to make people feel sorry for him and that would in turn make them give him…

Learning to deal with, and share the memories from a lifetime ago is important. “The communities of memory that tie us to past also turn us toward the future as communities of hope,”2 Bellah explains. By remembering the past we see the pain, the misfortune, the danger, and the list could go on and on; but we also see hope for a better tomorrow. Recalling the bad, while looking at a problem facing the present, reminds us we are stronger than we think. Just as the communities each of us live in faced hardship to get to the place they are now, they will face even more, but are stronger now than they were at the beginning. This is because, “… collective memory is a source of social strength.”3 The strength of the nation, city,…
