In “The Fender Bender” two men of different races were put into a situation where not many people would like to be in. The American man’s car was backed into by a Hispanic immigrant. The immigrant began to panic as he realized he was “without immigration papers, without a driving permit, and having hit another car”(23). He was one step away from Mexico. The same position as the woman I backed up into was in, when she knew she had no car insurance. Panic is an overwhelming emotion no matter the color of our skin. This is why as humans, we can feel sympathy for one another in terrible situations.

This is relevant to the same situation with the woman I hit. After realizing I wasn’t calling the cops she felt a tremendous relief. With me making this decision it not only made us more than acquaintances, it also showed that understanding people certain situations can bring great deliverance. The thought of no major damage to the cars on my part also brought me an abundance of relief. As new, difficult situations occur we learn how to make the most effective
