Those two traits of the value of education are shown very well within the movie “The First Grader”. It shows one of the values of education being a key to a more advanced future when in the video “The First Grader” the van driver yells to the kids “Education is the key, we are the padlock,”. This quote shows it’s value because what the driver is saying is that education is the key and what they use the “key” to unlock is all of the things learned by the generations before them, being the adults, which is why he considers the adults being himself a padlock. Simply put education is the key to unlocking the previous learnings of the older generations, which can create a much greater …show more content…
future. This is one of educations, many intangible values, similar to another value of education that is shown within the movie.
The other trait of education’s value, being how it is worth a person’s dignity, is shown in “The First Grader” when in the movie the male teacher continuously pestered Maruge about his way of doing things.
This included things like his writing, and in front of all of the other children Maruge taking harsh criticism, but Maruge took the insults to his dignity, and continued to deal with it so that he could continue to learn. This shows how it is worth a person’s dignity, because Maruge was willing to take harsh words, as well as resentment. These which destroyed his dignity as an adult of the age of 84, But even with the harsh treatment he continued to take the offenses so that he could continue learning. Education is worth many things sometimes you even have to give something up as important as your dignity so that you can receive the education you wish
for.
Furthermore there are many more values of education, but two of the greatest examples of values were a key to a better future, as well as a person’s own dignity. Most things people give or get from education are intangible, and sometimes aren’t necessarily positive things. Both of those examples were shown within the movie “The First Grader”.
