A wrongly formed conscience could have no fault of their own, people are sometimes given information or assumptions about right or wrong that are mistaken. The waodani would be an example of this because they believed in certain things that we all know are wrong. They believed that spearing people was okay or that it's the way to live and survive. But, we know it's wrong and it's not the way to live. There is also a healthy conscience which is well-formed and will tell you what you need to hear. Rachel has a healthy conscience because she felt good about her decisions when she helped Dayumae. A lax conscience would habitually sin in a certain way and is distorted. Mincayani thought it was wrong to let his mom kill his sister but, later goes off and kills tons of people. Also Mincayani wouldn't change his ways and wanted to keep the tradition a live and stop spearing, this would be a legalistic conscience.
Personal, social, mortal, and venial are the four different types of sin. In the movie Ninkiwi expressed personal sin when he lied to the tribe, he knew the foreigners weren't trying to kill them. He lied to protect himself. And a social sin would be all of the waodani killing. There is also mortal sin which comes into play when the waodani kill people for fun because they are cutting of their relationship
