Fasting the month of Ramadan is the fourth pillar of Islam. During this time, all Muslims must refrain from food, drink, or sexual relations. These actions begin in the month of Ramadan from dawn to sundown. The fifth and last pillar of Islam is the pilgrimage to Mecca.
