The Five Specialties
As the textbook mentions, under the umbrella of forensic psychology there exists five specialties. First, there is legal psychology, which pertains to a number of court proceedings, such as expert witness testimony and child custody determinations. Second, psychology of crime and delinquency, deals with the science behind criminal behavior exhibited by adults and juveniles. Third, police and public safety psychology, deals main with assisting public safety personnel and law enforcement in performing their duties in an effective and safe manner (Bartol & Bartol, 2015, p. 20). Forth, correctional psychology, as the name implies, is a specialty that deals with prisons, jail, and other correctional facilities. Lastly there is the fifth specialty
of victimology and victim services, which deals with victims of violence and crime, and their families, relative, and friends who have been affected directly or indirectly.
