The Five Teens
The best friends are the ones who stick around through thick and thin, the ones who you know and trust. The five teens in the novel met way back at the beginning of their high school adventure. They knew that they could depend on each other but realized they would drift apart. So they made a promise to get back in touch and meet up again, just the five of them. They wrote letters to themselves and hid them to open on that very day they connected again. They had no idea they would become even closer and more beneficial to each other's happiness than ever. So Whitney made them promise, “ Let's all meet up again at graduation, the five of us. Right here under this basketball hoop. It's kind of like, see you on the other side”, (Mackler 24). They

A best friend is someone who is always there for you, someone you can trust and who trusts you- or is it? At least, this is what most people think of when they think of the term ‘best friend’. But what if the person you have always considered your best friend betrays you, becomes jealous of you, doesn’t trust you, and even could have caused your death? Are they still your best friend? Are these behaviors just small mistakes that every human makes or are they really worth forgiving? Can two people with this relationship still remain friends? After reading the story of the Low Five, it appears the new coach Shirley did not understand the complete concept of the leadership process. She was peering through the lens of only her coaching role, and not the lens of the basketball team, which were her (followers) and the leadership Situation which was her (method of training). I believe if Shirley had been willing to view all three lenses of the interactional framework surrounding leadership process, her vision would have been more reasonable and clearer as it related to the role of being an effective and efficient coach. I view Shirley as an Autocratic leader; she was negative and centered in her own power and decision making regarding the welfare of the team. She expected the team members to do what they were told without thinking for themselves, and she took full authority as well as assumed full responsibility for the success or failure of their quest (Kilburg, 2011).…

Over the years that I’ve been at Burdick, I’ve gained many great friends, but I also lost a few. Only a few selective of them, I tell my secrets to. For example, Kaiden, Coreena, Dakota, Elysium, Joelle, Jose, and Isaiah. They’re the greatest friends anyone could ask for and have. They’re loyal, truthful, understanding, funny, witty, sarcastic, and just plain awesome. I have them to thank for making ordinary moments, extraordinary. They’re always there when I want to hang out or vent out my feelings. They put in that extra effort to understand me for who I am, not caring the slightest bit about my flaws and imperfections. And if I ever need to shed some tears, I know that at least one of them will be there to comfort me. There are times where…

My best friend was Kristen; I have only known her since our freshman year of high school. She influenced me to date my current boyfriend. I would always go on “third wheel” dates with her and her boyfriend, and I had liked my boyfriend for a long time. She was always incredibly supportive and we acted the same way. She was always the first person I told everything I should not have told anyone to. My other best friend was Tyler. Tyler and I have been friends since we were three years old. He has gone through so many important events in my life with me. He was one of the greatest friends I think I will ever have. My other friends and I were not as close as Kristen or Tyler, but still they were great support systems at times. When it affected them, it was important for them to be there for me. The most important friend I had and still have is my boyfriend, Jacob. He always influences me to do my absolute best. He does not influence risky or dangerous behaviors. He is truly the…

I have the greatest group of friends or I should say two really good girl friends. Over the years my circle has gotten smaller, but that’s ok. I have learned it is not about how many friends I have, but the quality of the people that I spend my time with. In fact the Mayo Clinic states, “Quality counts more than quantity. While it's good to cultivate a diverse network of friends and acquaintances, you also want to nurture a few truly close friends who will be there for you through thick and thin”. My friends have walked with me through the best and the worst times of my life. We have seen each other through marriages, births and even deaths. This…
