While I have learned a variety of processes and steps in this critical thinking course, the 3 most significant things that come to mind are commitment, forward thinking, and overcoming obstacles. Critical thinking requires a life time commitment if I expect my thinking to improve. I learned to be mindful of how my past affected my thinking and I learned what processes to put in place to take my thinking to a higher level. Critical thinking leaves no room for emotions and other bad habits that hinder thinking. The emotions that once drove my thinking have been replaced with a drive to move past emotion and consider what lies beyond. Critical thinking is an important source in overcoming obstacles that might hinder good and reasonable conclusions or solutions to problems and issues.…

Critical thinking is very important to our relationships with each other and with ourselves. It requires someone to make a little more effort to figure out the whole story. Sometimes people are very good at this such as the man from The Allegory of the Cave and Chimamanda Adichi, while others such as the woman from The Lunch Date, cannot form new perspectives and base outlooks on assumptions and stereotypes. Being a critical thinker requires a person to gain and use knowledge to develop a perspective on what they know.…

Because a fundamental aspect of leadership is getting results through others, follower motivation, satisfaction, and performance are vitally important topics for leaders. Research has shown that the best followers often perform at a level 20-50 percent higher than average followers, and much of this difference in performance is due to motivation. Leaders who have dissatisfied followers or cannot motivate followers will have difficulty building teams and getting results. Therefore, the more leaders know about motivation, satisfaction, and performance, the more likely they will be successful…

As Bass (1985) reckoned that a transformational leader would motivate subordinates to do more than what they originally expected to do. This theory describes that leaders are a crucial instrument to build and foster follower commitment, challenge, inspire and motivate followers to achieve a better performance with higher efficiency. Transformational leaders emphasise on noticing followers’ individual needs and potentials and helping them grow and develop (Bass, Riggio, 2016). It is also identified with the Leader/Member Exchange Theory and the focal point is the personal development of followers or employees. Under this theory, followers are motived to reach higher achievements to obtain self-actualisation needs instead of low-level needs as discussed in Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. Working for these leaders, followers have the most precious opportunities to learn, to develop themselves, to be empowered, to be responsible for their own decisions within the firm. I suppose that acting as effective communicators, these leaders build and maintain the most close-knit relationship with their followers by enabling them to address issues and develop their own strategies, which gives them a sense of control. They build trust from their followers by willing to share internal, crucial information and encouraging them to give feedback in…

One of the fundamental characteristics of a Servant leader is their ability to look at the human and value the human aspect to all business processes. This characteristic of a Servant Leader is important. When you look at employees and value each employee, you can create an environment that fosters motivation. Every human being want to be treated with a level of respect. When being interviewed for an article Cheryl Bachelder stated, “We give dignity to human beings, and we attempt to be humble. People perform better under those circumstances.”(Goudreau 2015) This is a sign that this leader embodies her ability to be humble in situations that require this important characteristic. The leader is showing to her employees that she is no better than they are and that each person has a job to do within the organization. When leaders do not place themselves above their subordinates employees are often willing to go above and beyond for the organization. This is a sign of inspiration. The employee is not being inspired by anything more than being treated like they should be treated in the first place.…

The concepts of critical thinking and perception are both gaining increasing importance in the world today. Critical thinking allows one to understand difficult concepts in a manner that is clearer and more defined. One can more readily understand those concepts if they employ critical thinking. In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments. Those judgments are based on experience and knowledge. Without the ability to think critically, every situation that a person comes across would have to be considered in isolation from all other situations. When a person encounters a problem that is a new one, he or she may be able to use critical thinking to solve those problems. One manner in which a person can develop critical thinking skills is through using them in all situations. By doing this, a person can discern when to use certain skills. One way of using critical thinking is to review material and analyze that material. There are many times when critical thinking is an important concept. It is important in the classroom. It is important in the boardroom. It is important for not only the student, but also the CEO. The mother or the teacher can apply critical thinking. Doctors employ critical thinking, as do nurses. Everyone employs critical thinking at one time or another whether or not this is even realized. This critical thinking needs to be channeled as well as focused. While critical thinking is important in all occupations, it must begin in childhood. Teachers must help their students to develop critical thinking modalities. Critical thinking helps considerably in problem solving. Without critical thinking, one must rely on old and outdated information. All businesses, from the simplest to the most technologically advanced, need critical thinkers. Critical thinking also helps in decision-making.
