Last week a flood took place in the the city of Shurrupak, a man named Utnapishtim managed to build a boat that lasted seven days and saved the lives of many people and animals. Sources tell us that the gods were the leading cause of this flood,specifically Enlil.
We asked Enlil the reasoning behind the flood, his official statement was,
“The uproar of mankind was intolerable,therefore, I decided to exterminate them, the gods in council may not have wholeheartedly agreed.”
It was a late afternoon when Utnapishtim was awoken by his reed-house that Ea had whispered upon, in that whisper Ea had told him to tear down his house and build a boat.
The boat consisted of seven decks in all, six underneath one on top,those seven decks were divided into nine sections it was equal in length and width, had a roof that covered the abyss and could hold all living creatures as Ea had instructed. …show more content…
Ea said to tell them that he is leaving the city because Enlil hates him. When he leaves, the city will be showered with good fortune, bread and wheat will be abundant, and that they will have more fish to eat than ever. So Utnapishtim butchered bulls and sheep and gave them “rivers” of wine to drink.In seven days the boat was ready. They were eating as if it was the New Year's
