Plot: In the plot basically its Wendy finding out she has a real family and she’s been living with a fake family. Throughout the book she finds out she’s a princess and her mom is queen of the Forenings so she has to learn all the ways to behave and act. While doing this she falls for Finn her tracker and in the Forening town you aren’t allowed to date the trackers you have to date someone in the
same class as you. So they have to hide their feelings for each other. Also she ends up finding out that with being a Forening she has powers. She has the power of persuasion. She used it before she knew what it was and she always felt bad because she didn’t know what it was. Her power is she can ask someone for something and she can look them in the eyes and make them say yes. The plot was explained clearly. The other conflict is the Vitra are after Wendy because they want her powers and ruling. So the plot is explained clearly and its organized very well it comes with situation after situation.
Character Development: Wendy she is a sweet, smart, adventurous girl. They have moved a lot because Wendy is a trouble maker. She’s smart but chooses not to listen. She hates being locked up she likes to explore and do things.
Finn is a mysterious, loving, caring guy. He starts all mysterious with Wendy by staring at her and watching her from as distance. He’s a much closed person. He’s loving and caring because even though he can be hard and strict sometimes he’s not a complete butt. He cares for Wendy’s feelings he doesn’t like to see her sad or scared he watches out for her and blames himself for anything that happens to her.
Matt this is Wendy’s “fake” brother he’s so caring and gets angry quickly. He loves Wendy so much he watches out for her he wants what’s best for her. If you try Matt he blows up because he has anger issues.
Elora is Wendy’s real mother she’s strict, mean, and in a way loving. In the beginning she is really strict and mean to Wendy she doesn’t let things slide. She expects so much from Wendy but deep down and more into the book you see Elora loves Wendy and wants what best for her.
Tone: The author adds lots of tension in this book. It makes hardcore moments that Wendy goes through. The author would throw in commands and it would add a scary vibe to it making it seem like bad things would happen if Wendy messed up. He added people yelling and making characters personalities scary towards the beginning and the middle of the book.
Theme: I feel like the theme in this book is to watch who you trust because Wendy easily could’ve been captured by the Vitra is she had listened to them.
Personal Relevance: I thought they had a fairly good theme, the theme isn’t clear you have to think about it to realize the theme and I think this book could be interpreted with more than one theme. The main idea was pretty clear in this book you can’t really miss it. The main idea is basically thrown at your face it comes with so many plot twists and so many problems Wendy had to face. The main idea was just to be yourself and to be careful. Throughout all the adventures and challenges Wendy went through she trusted herself to get through all of it and she didn’t give up. So don’t give up and you can succeed
