World War 1 was the most devastating war mankind had experienced to that point. Hundreds of thousands fought and died for somewhat unclear causes. Historians claim that there were four main causes of such a devastating war. Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism all contributed to the cause of a global human catastrophe. To further explain these four causes, Militarism is the desire of the government or the people that a country should maintain a strong military capability.
