This is because it allows the student who is either being bullied or is a bystander to intervene without making the situation worse. Bullying is sometimes viewed as a natural aspect of growing up, where children tease and taunt each other; nevertheless, bullying itself is not something that should be taken lightly, as bullying behaviour often crosses the line from simply teasing schoolmates into physical bullying. There are many reasons why some children bully others, but none of those reasons properly justify treating others this way. Bullying can have many negative effects on the health and psychological well-being of children, including depression, insomnia, low self-esteem, anxiety, and loss of appetite. The social justice principles should also be taken into consideration when trying to prevent bullying, with creating supportive environments as the major aspect. Being able to create supportive environments is very important when it comes to combating bullying as it makes a safe environment for the bully, the bully victim, and the bystanders. During the presentation, all four of the health promotion theories and models are used. The health promotion model is used during the activity in the beginning of the presentation. During this activity, students were asked to write down a word that they have been called. Then at the end of the presentation, the pieces of paper were mixed up and handed out again. It was easy to see that the names that people around them shocked the students. The protection motivation theory is shown in the first video of the presentation. Unfortunately, this video was not able to be shown because the Catholic education system does not allow anything relating to suicide or suicidal tendencies to be shown at school. This is unfortunate because the issue does need to be addressed at a younger age. Most students would already know what suicide is and what the word means, although they would not have a proper understanding of how it is caused or what the signs of a suicidal person are and therefore would not be able to help this person. The information motivation behavioural skills model can also be found in this presentation when information about the types of bullying and who are affected by bullying.
