The Four Underlying Causes Of World War I

There are several causes to have started the war in July of 1914. The biggest being the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie, this led to Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia. The underlying causes are far more important in forcing Europe to forcing war upon itself. The four underlying causes of World War 1 are: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. Among other causes such as: territorial, political, and economic, the importance of these are not as large as the others because the four main cause of the war have been causing disputes between the great European powers in the years leading up to the war.
