The French Revolution: King Louis XIV And The Third Estate

Through the late 18th century to the early 19th century was probably the bloodiest time in French history. The French King Louis XV desperately tried to cling to his power as the French people, who continuously fought for their rights, starved to death. And, when I say french people I’m referring to the lower class or known in France as the Third Estate. Fed up with the Monocacy the Third Estate came together as one and fought against tyranny. This was known as the French revolution. Which, by the way, sound very inspirational at first, but the results, on the other hand, were very un-revolutionary. I put the revolution on a grading scale to and gave it a grade of an E for effort because the whole point of the revolution is the lower class
And, when King Louis XV took power he was no help. As a result of the Third Estate to their issue to The Estates General. Just like how in the United States each state as a certain amount of electoral votes. Each Estate in France has one vote in the government. In May 1789, The Estate General held a meeting where the Third Estate brought up their tax issue. The First and Second Estate came together and outvoted the Third Estate. Which created great controversy in France and resulted in the Third Estate forming their own government. The king frustrated with the estate’s action he locked the Third Estate out of their own assembly. He later reversed his action after pressure from his advisers. Apparently, people started gossiping about how the king was amassing troops, so the Third Estate stated rioting and destroying everything that stood in their way. Peasant armed themselves with pitchforks and took their rebellion to the streets. Moreover, across the continent 13 British colonies inspired about Enlightenment thinker fought against colonial rule and formed their own nation and historians somehow think that inspired the Third Estate uprising. At the end the day Third Estate was able to drive the king out of Versailles. And, establish the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen. The document outlined the basic freedoms held by all. The national assembly confiscated and sold off church’s land to reduce the national debt. Still, the lower class remained unsatisfied with the results and this time the women took control. They marched on Versailles and forced Louis to return back to Paris. Supposedly the king happened to have royal friends from other nationalities who came to his aid. The French people saw this as a threat and most called for the government to declare war on these nation, especially,
