They look like most sharks, but mostly act differently, and probably has a different diet. Their order of family belongs to many other sharks such as the hound shark, hammer head, cat shark, and false cat sharks. Requiem sharks can also be identified as saw tooth shark. Requiem sharks aren't typically large, the largest being recorded at the Galapagos islands. Even though they are small in size, they are considered to be extremely dangerous to people, hints the bull shark. Shark's that are apart of the requiem family usually have the same habits and body…
Since the 1970’s when the movie Jaws first showed up on big screens around the country, people have been afraid of beaches, in fear of shark attacks. Not only have they been apprehensive about swimming in the ocean, but some have such malicious feelings towards sharks (especially Atlantic White Sharks due to their role in the movie) that they have taken to hunting and killing this already dwindling species. (Earth Island Institute) It is no secret that pollution and overfishing, as well as numerous other factors have caused the biodiversity of marine life to drastically decrease. It is also known that the ocean ecosystem relies much on all members of the food chain- particularly top predators like sharks. Larger sharks,…

Does any of you in the class know the themed music for jaws? of course you do, we all do. Because sharks are really scary arn't they? Sadly Films such as this as well as the media have built up this huge reputation of sharks being threatening, alarming & Dangerous monsters of the sea. It's a tragedy! Today I will be arguing for the rights of these misrepresented sharks and how this new "catch and kill policy" is completely wrong.…
My second choice was a great white shark, my love for sharks is enormous! When i was 9 years old i was scrolling through the television channels and stumbled upon an AMC screening of Deep Blue Sea, after watching that I was obsessed with all types of sharks(Megalodon, Great White, Tiger Shark). I loved going…
The sand shark is very important to my tribe, and I shall tell you why. Once, a very long time ago, a group of hunters were looking for animals for food and supplies. The eldest, and wisest, said “We must continue hunting! Do not lose hope!” Suddenly a squirrel scampered across a cedar branch. The youngest was quick, he raised his bow, arrow drawn, and shot. The squirrel was too quick, the arrow missed. Several days later, hunger spread throughout the village. The three hunters had failed to collect enough food for the winter. Many died, some went mad with starvation. One day in winter, the hunters had no choice but to hunt. After several hours, they noticed that one spot of water had not frozen. The hunters made the decision to go fishing.…
Have you ever been swimming at the beach and thought that perhaps you had seen a shark? Sharks have become a common fear for most humans since the movie Jaws first appeared on the screen in 1975. Prior to that movie most people never gave a thought about sharks being a danger to humans. Actually we are more of a threat to them than they are to us. Some shark conservationists have pointed out that hundreds more people are killed every year in furniture related accidents than by sharks. Attacks on humans could be termed mistaken identity.…
Lineaweaver, and Richard H. Backus. The Natural History of Sharks). Bull sharks are common and can be found worldwide in shallow warm tropical and sub-tropical regions. They are renowned for their unpredictable and often aggressive behavior, and because they dwell in the same type of warm shallow waters we like to swim in, they can arguably be considered the most dangerous species of sharks to humans. What makes these sharks so unique and interesting to me, is the fact that they are able to thrive in both marine and freshwaters, making them even more of a threat to humans. There have been reports of bull sharks as far up river as Indiana in the Ohio River and in Illinois in the Mississippi River (www.publish.csiro.au). They are typically solitary hunters who roam shallow waters, and can use their strength to accelerate rapidly. Along with the great white shark and the tiger shark, it is considered one of the three species of sharks most likely to attack humans. Bull sharks have the highest testosterone levels of any species of life on earth, which explains their extreme aggressiveness, and they are also highly territorial and will attack anything that enters what they consider to be their territory…
This song is significant to this chapter because Holden talks about his ambitions and the troubles hes gone through in his past and this song is just about going after what you want in life and not stopping along the way and that represents Holden a lot.…
The narrator immersed himself in the ocean to escape from his past; he is still dealing with the death of his son and guilt that he was one that killed his own flesh and blood. While in the ocean the narrator briefly describes his swimming technique, he states that he enjoys the feeling of swimming harder underneath the current. He pushes himself harder in the ocean to the point he grasp the concept that in just a matter of seconds a body can easily die as live. Swimming in the ocean with the narrator were jellyfishes and a whale shark. The significant about the whale shark, is it was once alive in the ocean swimming freely than suddenly captured and killed. I believe that the narrator saw as a representation of his son, because similar to…
Great white sharks are known as the most dangerous of the shark species because of their sheer size and their quick mind that make them the ultimate predator. A comparison can be seen in Figure 1, where the great white shark is seen next to a human, this image is showing the sizing difference between the two species. The shark is so captivating that there is an entire week each year dedicated to these creatures to learn more about them and the world they live, in an area that is vastly undiscovered. There is enough evidence through fossils that can date the shark back four-hundred million years ago, which was a time before dinosaurs were roaming the Earth (“Shark Basics”).…
1. In the story the truth about sharks the antagonists is Beth. She is a typical 17 year old girl that isn’t a morning person; however she seems welcoming and considerate. Hannah is a helping hand at the store Beth is shopping at; Beth takes time and talks with her, which ended up being beneficial to her in the end. Hanna is a flat character, although she is important to the story she isn’t described with a lot of detail. Madge P Groton is the security guard, she is the protagonist. From the introduction of Madge you could tell she was stern and not overly friendly. Another important character would be the officer that eventually listened to Beth’s story.…
