Speak your language and you shouldn't be ashamed. Honduras, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua these country are where the Garifuna are spoken. Plus they also included the USA. They originated, but supposedly they do not speak the language anymore. When Garifuna was signed St. Vincent, those who remain in the Island were preventing from speaking the language. Thats how the language totally disappeared from the Island. Ricardo’s main goal is to protect the Garifuna culture as he was taught when he was younger. He uses his children to accomplish his goals. Vincent, thats where they started. They are the result of a African father that who they are. The people that they come from happen to went to a special thing in history. When they were never slave, the ships slave where coming and the slave took over the ships. They went into the jungle and mixed with Caribs. In 1797, April 12 is the settlement date of the Garifuna to Central America that the day they arrived and they kicked them out of St. Vincent. They were 5,000 captured but only half of them 2,500 made it to Central America Honduras. This idea is comparable to event of slavery in the 1700’s.
