The Genre doesn’t reflect the story in the introduction as starts off in a normal small town. Whilst the Genre is Speculative Fiction which in this genre can include horror is really found in the story as you keep on reading it and how at the end the lottery winner in affect really isn’t a winner. Instead of putting the story through one of the characters point of view in first person, which then can have thoughts or feelings, Shirley Jackson uses a third person which gives you less information that you gain as you read the story displays the procedure of everything unravelling. This then shows the peoples mannerisms like getting rocks rather than what they were thinking and feeling like how much they wouldn’t want to be there. If it came from a villagers point of view being first person it wouldn’t give the effect as what It did give from being in third
