The climate of North Korea is mostly humid, with warm summers and cold dry winters. In summer, there is a short rainy season called changma. The long winters bring bitter cold,with snow storms from the northern and northwestern winds that blow from Siberia. Summer tends to be short, hot, humid, and rainy because of the southern and southeastern monsoon that bring winds from the Pacific Ocean. It is made up of forest, farmland, freshwater, and marine ecosystems.In recent years, there have been environmental concerns. Logging, and natural disasters have put pressure on North Korea's forests. In the 1990s there was an economic crisis, deforestation gained, people turned to the woodlands to provide firewood and food. This turned into soil erosion, soil depletion, and increased risk of
