The Giver And A Rich Man's Son

“The Gift of the Giver” and “A Rich Man’s Son” were both very inspiring. Both fables taught me the importance of giving to others and showing gratitude for the gift received. “ The Gift and the Giver” is a folktale about a poor farmer who found a perfect apple, many people admired its beauty, but they didn’t know what to do with it. The poor farmer thought that this type of perfectection is only worthy for the king, so the poor farmer gave it to the king and just wanted a smile from the king in return, nothing else. A rich merchant hears about the story and thought about what he will get, so he gave his best horse and got the apple in return by the king, he threw it on the ground. Then the king explained that the horse was worthless as a gift but great a very good horse to ride on. In the text it states, “ Where is the farmer?” he asked. “ He has shown me more love with this gift than anyone in my kingdom. Ride after him. Take my best horse and give it to him.
