The Giver Chapter 1 Summary

By cutting through the forrest, Jonas walked over to the so called “Music”.
He saw a lot of people gathered up like a ceremony, but it was different. They were all wearing “multi-coloured dresses”. “Gabe, what do you think this is?”, Jonas asked.
“Ghaa”Gabe stuttered to say. Jonas walked over to the group of people while holding Gabe in his arms. Jonas saw what looked like a giant sled with people on it. He remembered something like this from one of the memories, something called a “foat”, or a “float”, he said quietly. They got out of the bushes and saw not only the floats, but also a beautiful community with lots of flowers and ‘animals’. Someone called there name to come to his little stand with plenty of food and a sign that said
“free meat samples,” the man at the stand announced. “would you like a free chicken wing sample?”. Jonas said “Sure”, even though he didn’t know what that was-he and Gabe were extremely hungry. Jonas and Gabe liked this community, so they decided to sleep in the bushes. Jonas wanted to look around the community, but first he wanted to know what it was called.
He asked a man and the man said “You should know where you are, this is Australia”, the man said in a not so friendly voice.
A week has passed already and Jonas and Gabe are sort of starting to fit in a little more, but as that happens they figure out all of the different things and what doesn't make sense to them. A day and a half later when Jonas and Gabe were on a little walk, they heard a familiar voice yelling around the corner. When they walked over to the people, he saw the Giver being tortured and the Giver yelling at them. Jonas needed a closer look to make sure it was him, so when Jonas and Gabe checked to make sure, they noticed that it was the Giver. The men hurting the poor Giver ran away because they didn't want anyone to rat them out. When Jonas finally went to the Giver, Jonas suddenly passed
