For example, Jonas and Brian live with totally different communities, practices, and lifestyles. Jonas lives in a community where everyone is based on sameness with no pain, emotion, or differences. Jonas grows up knowing only what Chief Elder allows them to know and doesn’t have any real family members. Brian lives in Detroit, Michigan, with his mother Liz and his father Cole, with no boundaries of where to go or what to learn, unlike Jonas. In addition, another difference they have is who they live with and who they have to take care of. Jonas lives with his fake mother, father, lily, and Gabe who Jonas takes care of and shares memories with. Brian only lives with his mother because his father left when he was little to become a pitching coach in Japan, leaving Brian to take care of his mom and that’s it. In conclusion, they have differences that set them apart from each other even though they are so much alike.
In conclusion, Jonas from “The Giver” and Brian from “The Batboy” are very smart and intelligent young men who have many similarities and differences even though they are from two totally different novels.
