they haven't figured 'em out yet.” Jeannette got little too close to the fire that physics still not able to figure out yet, making her feel special. This situation showed that life had cheerful times and times when everything was going horrifically wrong. Turbulence is a state of violent disturbance and disorder (as in politics or social conditions generally) and this situation usually had lingered on the Walls. Just within the second part of the book chaos had started to flow into their life. They had started moving whenever they could not pay the bills and the bill collectors were about to go to them and their money. During this time the novelist Jeannette made this sound like it was an adventure for them. Even though they would be on the move constantly. During this book she was felt inappropriately many times and also did Brian at a certain point. She was disgusted every time it happened to her and the first time it happened with was with a guy named Billy. However, Jeannette stopped him rapping her by making a lot of clatter and after that Billy came over and almost killed the family. When Erma there grandma from their father’s side grabbed Brain’s crouch, the whole house turned into a ruckus. A big fight started between Lori and Erma and now the aftermath of this situation was them getting kicked out on the street again. The Arthur would describe these events in great detail such as “…then grabbed my hair and made my head bend sideways and stuck his tongue in my mouth.” When I read this, the author made me see that she was in great pain and agony. You could tell this conflict really scarred her for the rest of her life. The most turbulence that had ever occurred in the family was when Rex was drunk and this made it hard for them to survive. Some examples where he would steal money from his family and use it on booze and get in a lot argument with family when he came home. One argument almost had their mom killed in the process. The book states “But this particular argument just would not stop … Suddenly, one of Mom's oil paintings came flying through an upstairs window. Next came her easel. The crowd below scurried back to avoid getting hit. Then Mom's feet appeared in the window, followed by the rest of her body. She was dangling from the second floor, her legs swinging wildly.” Then the kids went to try to save her from his hands. During this The Author made this situation seem really scary and that she was scare for her mother’s life. Order is the arrangement or disposition of people or things in relation to each other according to a particular sequence, pattern, or method.
Their family always was pleased and in check with the bills for the first few months when they moved to a new house. Two places where they stayed the longest was Phoenix and Blue Mountain. In both areas Dad found good paying job as miner or electrician in a mine and for the first few months all the family’s needs were full filled according to the writer. However, when dad lost his job, things around the house would go back into chaos and left mom no choice but to teach and this made life better with their needs met again. During these days everyone was happy and the children received presents regularly like a new bicycle. These events were when the most smiles and happiness in kids was shone off. Finally towards the end of the book everyone moved to New York City and from beginning to end in their stay everyone was joyful. However their dad did die and Maureen moved to California after stabbing her mother but order was still there. Jeanette went to an Ivy League college and after graduating she became a journalist which was what she always wanted to be since high school. The author made this time seem very cheerful except when they talked about her parents in the streets. Towards the end the thanksgiving dinner brought the family all together witch it brought forth a conclusion worth reading. The Glass Castle states on the last paragraph “We raised our glasses. I could almost hear Dad chuckling at Mom's comment in the way he always did when he was truly enjoying something.” This showed at the end of all the pain and suffering there was true peace for their family at
last.
At the end the novelist was trying to say even though you may go through tribulation in life but soon order will be restored. The mom said this one time “Things usually work out in the end." Jeanette Walls replied "What if they don't?" Mom replied back "That just means you haven't come to the end yet.” This show even though they went through of tons tribulation in the story soon they would finally came to the point where there was order. In the end of the book she ends with this “A wind picked up, rattling the windows, and the candle flames suddenly shifted, dancing along the border between turbulence and order.” This shows both represent chaos and control throughout the book and what has happened through their life. Also all in all they might fall back into a turbulence but they will get back up from it.
