There were plenty events in The Glass Menagerie that were unpredictable. The society wants everyone to have the same image as everyone else. The society wants Laura to get a man to protect herself. Laura reacts by not wanting a man to protect her, but Amanda does not listen and invites Jim to their house. The fate of the horse with the horn was the fate of Laura's. Laura does not let the society change her. Laura needs to rise her self-esteem and not be shy Jim. In society the female need a male to protect herself. Society is tough for women because back then women were only good to reproduce and cook. Currently the women are changing everyone's mind and making a revolution. Laura had a big crush on Jim in high school. Amanda orders Tom to invite a gentleman to their house. When Jim comes Laura becomes shy and freaks out. It takes her awhile to open the door. Laura reacts freaked out and sick. The scaredness from Laura lead to “ faint moan”(65). She was so nervous that she passed out. Later in the play Jim and Laura discuss about back in high school. This leads to the unique horse being broken.
The horses were all the same except one was unique. All of the horse didn't have horns, but one horse did. Later in the play the horse with the horn was broken just like Laura. Laura was hurt after Jim told her that there was a Becky. The horse represented Laura because she is unique, different, and at the end broke. Tennessee showed that the fate of the horse was the same as Laura’s.(97). The rare horse was important because it was the only different one. Also Laura gave the horn to Jim.
