1. The difference between measuring mass and measuring matter is weight is measured in pounds while mass is measured in grams.
2. The mass of the package would be 2 kilograms.

Review 5.2
1. A fluid is matter that can flow usually a gas or a liquid. A few examples of a fluid are water, air, orange juice, and helium.
2. A beach ball floats on water.
3. Buoyancy is an upward lifting force that acts on an object when it displaces water. Buoyancy acts against gravity
4. The object will float.
5. The reason Ben’s boat didn’t float is because the boat sinks because its weight is greater than the displaced water’s weight. To fix it Ben would have to spread the volume of his boat out or put his boat in more dense water.
6. The reason some objects float and some objects don’t float is because when an object is dropped in the water pushes back on the object with a force equal to the weight of the displaced water. The weight of the displaced water is called buoyant force. Also, if the object is less dense than the liquid it will float but if the object is denser than the liquid it will sink.
7. The reason an inflated beach ball floats and a not inflated beach ball sink is because the inflated beach ball has a larger volume for its mass and the not inflated beach ball has a smaller volume for its mass.
8. Neutral buoyancy means that something has the same density as the water around it
9a. The reason it’s easier to float in the Dead Sea is because the water is so filled with salt that it is much denser than the human body. 9b. The percentage of an iceberg below the water’s surface is 90 percent. Because the densities of ice and sea water are so close in value, the ice floats low in the water.

Buoyancy is the power to float or rise in a fluid. This relates to swimming because when you’re in the water, you have to be able stay afloat. Buoyancy is the net upward force acting on the swimmer, as the depth of the water increases, so does the pressure.
