The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg
The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg

A man and his wife owned a very special goose. Every day the goose would lay a golden egg, which made the couple very rich.

"Just think," said the man's wife, "If we could have all the golden eggs that are inside the goose, we could be richer much faster." "You're right," said her husband, "We wouldn't have to wait for the goose to lay her egg every day." So, the couple killed the goose and cut her open, only to find that she was just like every other goose. She had no golden eggs inside of her at all, and they had no more golden eggs.

Reflection:
The story entitled “The Goose That Laid Golden Egg” is the folly of being over greedy which leads to destruction of the source of benefits to a person. In this story the owner of the goose that lays golden egg is not satisfied with the golden eggs that the goose lays from time to time. He wants to get more gold and way more quickly. This tells us the reality that sometimes we are blinded with the simple facts that we endeavor in our life and sometimes wanting too much or being greedy tends to make us fools. In the hope of getting all that we want at once, which we believe that is there when the reality it isn’t, we became animals and demons of ourselves. In the end, we are deprived to those things we really wanted in the first place. And as the saying goes “All regrets will always come after “. We must not let things which we desire to manipulate us to get and be eager to have that thing. We should always remember that being greedy, never pays......

“Gooseberry Season” is a poem that can be interpreted as blunt and edgeless. This impression is set by the poem’s lack of imagination and visualization. Gooseberry season entails the victim’s last few weeks as he outstays his “vacation” at the narrator’s house. The victim took the narrator’s good nature as an advantage and this led up to his death as he was drowned to his death.…

Not only does Jessica tell the reader about egg donations but also her own experience on the subject. This particular anecdote shows how business like people can be when discussing the conception of their baby. “Can you tell me about your academic performance? What are you taking at Yale? What high school did you attend?” Jessica compared David and Michelle (the couple who had sent out the ad) to a modern day Darwinist. Jessica began to have second thoughts because “It would lead to the creation of a child with to many expectations” She did not have to worry because she was not accepted as the donor.…

In present day, society has developed the common misconception that in order for people to be happy and attain a high quality of life, they must undergo many hardships, as demonstrated by the ‘American Dream.’ In the short story, “Dead Man’s Pockets” by Jack Finney, Tom Benecke believes in this misconception; and in order to achieve this false idea of happiness, he works countless hours to change his life without appreciating the good that was already present—in other words, his family. Such struggles are paralleled when Tom Benecke encounters yet another hardship and fortuitously traps himself outside of his apartment window in an attempt to catch a sheet of work-related notes. In comparison, however, the situation allows Tom to reflect upon his past decisions. While both the ledge and Tom’s work represent obstacles that he must surpass, his responses to these situations differ greatly. Tom’s response to long work hours is based on his ambitions where his goal is to work harder in order to bring his family riches. In the other setting, Tom’s response to his isolation on the window ledge is that of reflection—a response that Tom never had towards his work. Ultimately, Jack Finney presents the idea that under dire circumstances, people will reflect differently upon past decisions from which they may regret.…

Published in 1971, “I want a wife” written by Judy Brady illustrates successfully the role of women in marriage. Brady humorously mentions a wife’s duties which range from doing chores and tasks, such as laundry and cooking, to take care of the husband’s mental, physical, social, and sexual needs. The repetition of “I want a wife who will…” is used effectively to emphasis the husband’s selfishness. Brady is right when she lays out a list of what most women are expected do after getting married. She defines “a wife” as a hard worker, a maid, a nurse, a chef, an assistant, a host and a mother. She gives a fair view of the classic role of women in families. Throughout almost forty years, although everything has not changed completely, it has improved so much. Today, women become more independent and have a voice in families. Women, in some ways, are able to reach the equality between women and men.…

    Choice Paragraph

Nowadays, people have to face more and more choices during their lives. However, one choice is better than more choices. There are three reasons about that. First, if we only have one choice, we won’t regret. More choice makes more mistakes, and brings more regrets. Why? Because when we face many choices, then we choose one of them, if we don’t satisfied about our choice, we will regret about that choice, and ask ourselves, there were many choices I met before, but I choose the wrong one. On the other hand, if we only have one choice, then we don’t satisfied about it, but there was only one choice, we won’t regret, because there was only one choice, we can’t choose another one, so we will fulfill our choice. There is an example, when we go to buy a cell phone, there are many cell phones in the closet, we will struggle about which one we should choose, then we choose one, but the cell phone doesn’t meet our need, finally, we will feel regret about our choices. Second, we won’t waste our time if we have only one choice. More choices costs more time, we will waste our time on making choices. All of us know that time is limited, waste our time equal to waste our lives. If we face to many choices, we will hesitate about which one is the best, we are afraid of making a wrong choice, we are afraid of regret, so we can’t make choice as soon as possible, because we want the best choice, it certainly will cost us a plenty of time. However, if we have only one choice, we won’t waste any time, no hesitation. There is an example, if we hunt for a job, we send out many applications, and many companies want to employ us, but which company we should choose? It becomes a big problem, during our hesitation, that job maybe belongs to others. If we only have one choice, will we lose the job? Third, we can hold insist on our choice, and never give up our progress. If we have many choices, we don’t want to hold insist on our goal anymore, if we are struggling in a…
