The night of the monster’s awakening exemplifies Shelley use of the gothic setting. “It was on a dreary night of November that I behalf the accomplishment of my toils…It was already one in the morning; the rain pattered dismally against the panes, and my candle was nearly burnt out”. Nature even plays a role in this novel in many ways. Shelley uses nature as a restorative agent for Victor Frankenstein. While he seems to be overcome with grief by the murders of his friends and family, he repeatedly shuns humanity and seeks nature for health, relaxation and to strengthen his spirits. Victor is not the only one that need revenge put against the monster needs it too. The monster was created flawed and then abandoned instantly when Frankenstein got creeped out
