A delegate feels that the constituents are the ones in charge and that their will is to be obeyed. I believe that this gives too much popular power to the people which most likely will not be used correctly.
The delegate connects to his/her constituents completely, tries the utmost to empathize with their feelings, and wants to be like by the constituents, and tries to not ruin the chance of re-election. They are not bound to the vote of their constituents, and I like that. The representatives know about the topics and things of that nature when voting, so they can vote differently than their majority. What the constituents may want now could just as well hurt them later in the long run, and if the representative can see that and vote differently, then that is the best, even if it does not seem so at the time.
A trustee listens to his/her constituents, but makes the choice on how to vote based on their own judgment. A delegate votes exactly how his district wishes him to vote. Neither of these models of democratic representation are the best, but we do not have anything else. Unless someone changes things, these models of representation are what we will have to live
