These meetings with Mrs. Robinson built up Benjamin’s self-esteem. From what was a not so confident to a brave Benjamin. One night Benjamin expressed his concern with Mrs. Robinson and stated that he wanted something more out of the relationship rather than just a sexual affair. He wanted communication. Robinson realized that Benjamin was having feelings for Elaine she threatened to expose her relationship to her daughter. Benjamin stated that he would tell her in his own way. However, Mrs. Robinson was erotic and exaggerated the relationship. Elaine was saddened and left for Berkley immediately. It is at this point that Benjamin realized that he was going to pursue Elaine. He told his parents he would go to Berkley and marry Elaine. This was all said with Elaine being clueless to his intentions. Upon arriving to Berkley, Benjamin sets out to stalk Elaine. He finally meets up with her, however she explains to him that she is soon to marry her longtime boyfriend Carl. Benjamin was not registering her concern, he thereby continued to pursue her until she was no longer at Berkley.
