During pages 12-16, the scene called “The Grandfather” The characters in this scene are the grandfather, the mother, the father, and the author. The conflict is between the grandfather and father and mother (The Grandfather vs. Mother and Father). The conflict arises when the author said, “That was Friedrich!” The grandfather was curious until he found out Friedrich was a Jewish boy. The effect the conflict had on the characters besides the grandfather besides the grandfather, (the mother, father, and author) is how people judge others without knowing who they are and not knowing their choices, I learned by the characters in this scene. Friedrich, the author a women/owner a shop, and a police officer are all involved in this scene. The conflict arises when the rubber ball crashes into a shoe shop window. The conflict ends when the police officer takes Friedrich home and the women following both. The effect the conflict had on the crowd in this scene is not positive. It let people thinking if Jews were bad and to trust them. In this scene I learned that at this time people started blaming Jews for everything. This scene took place on the streets from school to the author’s apartment.
Conversation on the Stairs (1933)
During pages 42-44, the scene called “Conversation on the Stairs”. Herr Schneider, Friedrich, Herr Resch, the author, and his father were all involved in this scene. The conflict arises when Herr Resch said I hereby give you notice for the first!” The conflict ends when Herr Resch yells “Because you are a Jew!” The effect the conflict had is negative for all of the people in the scene but Herr Resch. I learned in this scene that at this time many Jews started losing their homes and jobs. The conflict took place in outside of the author’s apartment (the hall).
