the grass is greener on the other side
505 Words Essay on “The Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side”
The grass is always greener on the other side; this proverb focuses on the comparing nature of mankind. We have this tendency of making comparison and feel the other person is in a much better state then us or the other thing is much better than what we have. Instead of accepting and appreciating the things and people we have in our life, we always find a way to look at the things or people that are not available to us.

“The human heart has ever dreamed of a fairer world than the one it knows.”- Carleton Noyes
It means that no matter how much you give to a person, he/she will always find what someone else has better. Thus, in the process of trying to achieve something better one may end up losing what they have.
Let’s take an example of a goat in a field. A goat is having green grasses on a field, after sometimes he sees other goats having grasses on the other field. It seems to him that the goats on the other felid are having more fun and have greener and lusher grasses. So he decides to visit the other field, but when he reach the other field he realize the grasses on his felid were much better and will want to go back.
Thus, want may seem good to us might not actually be good. In the process of getting something better we either turn heaven into hell, or after achieving what we want we may end up having more aspirations and desires.
Similar, is the situation of a man, who always wants a change and when he gets the change, he feel uncomfortable and wants the things as they were. Like when a man gets married, he finds his single friends life much better than his. Things might look good on the other side, but it may not be true. Ifa person divorce his wife so that he can enjoy the freedom his single friends are enjoying. For few days he may enjoy his new found freedom but after some days he will realize his mistake and will miss the stability and his loyal wife and will want to get back to

Wattles goes on to contend that while you may want something for yourself, that does not mean someone else would agree. In Thomas Sowell’s article, “The Fallacy of Fair”, he makes it clear that he believes many of the people who utilize the term fair in politics do not truly understand it’s meaning. He urges the idea that society is often blamed for the results of the handicaps that life bestows upon groups or people, leading society to attempt to level out the playing field for those on the bottom end of the totem pole. This concept in itself portrays the real injustice considering it skews the reality of a group's true situation, causing said group to think they are better off than they are. Evidently, this robs them of the incentive to identify the true problem and to improve (Sowell, 2010).…

I think that what the author was trying to imply in this passage was that in his personal experience, he has noticed that many people take many things for granted and that they don't live their lives according to what they want and need to do. So much is wasted during one's lifetime, and people just allow their lives to pass them by.…

The phrase “a doubled edged sword cuts both ways” means that something has both beneficial and adverse outcomes. The comparison is made to a double-edged sword because it allowed the wielder of the sword to slash on the backswing without having to pivot the weapon in their hand, but it also allowed the wielder to cut themselves on the backswing. The actual origin of the phrase is unknown, but the earliest mentions of it can be found in the Bible. This phrase can be applied to literature, art, music, and society throughout history. The phrase rang true in its Biblical inception and remains relevant in the media of today. Many facets of our society wield double-edged swords from our political issues to our everyday entertainment. I selected this phrase because the broadness of the quote allows it to apply to many subjects across the whole of time. “A double edged sword cuts both ways” demonstrates that every decision can have consequences and benefits, and it’s important to think before you act on impulse.…

“A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss. That’s the trade-off. But I’ll take it all.’’ This quote means that the greater you love a person the harder the loss of that person is to you. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke relates to this quote in her book Inkheart in chapters 29 and 30. I agree with this quote because the quote could relate to you or someone else.…
