I was inspired when I saw Samantha Booke become the first lady to join the debate team. Females are typically underestimated. She was in fact one of the main leaders on the debate team. Samantha had one debate about how “Negros should be admitted into State universities”. This particular part of the movie spoke to me. She states that “lacking a Negros admission to a state university is not only wrong, it is absurd. The negro people are not just a color in the American fabric, they are the thread that holds it all together”. Samantha is trying to get people to understand that African Americans should be admitted to any college and have a just as much to offer as any other attendee; their skin color or ethnic background shouldn’t matter.. What matters is the fact that we all want an education. Samantha questions her audience saying “Well would you kindly tell me, when is that day going to come…the time for justice, the time for freedom, and the time for equality, is always, right now! Whites are getting more money to spend on education than African Americans are. Why must colored people get the short end of the stick? Everyone should all be equal, because at the end of the day, they are all trying to get an education. Samantha stood up for not only African Americas but more importantly, female African Americans. She is an inspiration! Another one of my favorite scenes was the last debate at Harvard. In this scene, one teammate
