The Great Guardian Silas Throughout the novel, Silas is very different from all the other people in the graveyard. He has something special about him and he also has a special power. Silas uses his power for good especially in the beginning when he is helping save Bod from a murderer. Since Silas can do something that the other people of the graveyard can he is named Bod’s guardian. Even though Bod has adoptive parents Silas is the one who teaches him life lessons and shows him how the world works. Most little boys need love and caring for, Bod has ghosts as parents but, despite Silas’ unique form and life-style, he is the perfect guardian for Bod in The Graveyard Book.
