The Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 Iowa doesn’t get many earthquakes, but San Francisco does. There has been lots of earthquakes around that area, some too small to feel, and some too big to not. All around the southern part of the east-cost, earthquakes riddle the area. Just like how tornados are very common to us. Many parts of this disaster are very common to earthquakes that occur all around the world. There is a fault near the San Francisco area, the San Andreas Fault. This fault has been the birth place of many earthquakes striking this area for hundreds of years, and was for the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906. The earthquake’s …show more content…
Ironically the fire had cleared out a lot of the area that was outdated and that the city planners and architects wanted to redesign. So in an extremely twisted way the earthquake had helped the city. San Francisco quickly recovered and after 4 years was better than ever. The fire also encouraged lots of people to move out of the city so a lot of expansions took place after the disaster. The Great San Francisco Earthquake caused damage, death, and destruction, but little did the San Franciscans of 1906 know what it was to lead to today. The city is now thriving and doing better than it ever has. The earthquake shaped the city, in its culture, style, and has literally helped shape its beautiful landscape. It may have seemed like a curse to the people, but it might have just saved the old mining town from extinction.
