Journalist Malcolm Gladwell states, “The second, more intriguing, possibility is that they succeeded in part, because of their disorder -- that they learned something in their struggle that proved to be of enormous advantage.” The irony that a disadvantage can bring about a successful advantage that is discovered while working through challenges. While enrolled as a student in the CRC, there was a performance being given in which the entire school was to attend, but as his friend and spokesman was absent that day, nobody thought to bring Joseph, so he had to sit alone in the classroom throughout the performance. Throughout the performance, Joseph is left with only his thoughts to keep him company, a skill in which he is masterful. On Tuesday, March fifteenth I attended the Women's Refugee Experience. There we heard from the women refugees living in southwest Ohio. The women refugees at the event were from Bhutan, Burundi, Iraq and Syria. I enjoyed hearing about the experiences of the woman’s travels and their stories actually made me rather emotional.
