All my life I have wanted to be an athlete and break records, I took time to physically research each sport I could think of and I concluded on basketball. When I turned fifteen I realized why I couldn’t achieve much, then I realized that I lived in the most boring and malnourished country when it came to basketball, I lived in Canada. You might think Canada has some major basketball leagues, well you’re wrong. The only team in this snowy desert that I could think of playing with was the Toronto Raptors and that was a longshot because it turns out there are millions of young men out there who are all trying to make it into one team, I had two options got to the United States of America which had more teams or try my luck with the Raptors. …show more content…
People worry about how they’re going to buy a ticket or accommodation or how to sustain themselves when they arrive but they forget the first step to it all, consent from a guardian or parent. That was a very difficult step to step over and I still didn’t get my way, I still wasn’t allowed to go to the US and it took a while to convince them to take the harder path to my journey of becoming a professional athlete. My parents let me got to Toronto but under some conditions: I would graduate high school first, I would get a degree at some point in my life so if I don’t become successful I would have a plan to fall back on and I would fund my own trip but they will pay for accommodation. I agreed and later regretted it because they made me work my gluteus maximus off and accumulate enough money for the trip while busting my brains at school to get my grades up to a high percentage, which was required to get into the University of
