“Stay gold Ponyboy. Stay gold…” (Hinton, 126). “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton is a novel about the life of a 14 year old boy and his struggles with right and wrong in a society in which he believes he is an outsider. The character Johnny Cade is brave, shy, and he does not feel loved.…
I’m reading a book called the Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, and it is a very good book. I saw a word that just kept coming up again and again, and that word is harpoon. The word harpoon came up so many times in three pages. I know that this is important because I know something is going to happen very shortly. I know it is going to be shortly because I'm getting to the end of the book.…
While reading “Broken Spears”, written by Miguel Leon-Portilla, I’ve had a small view of what Mexican culture was like back in those times. They are sort of different from America’s traditions and societies. Broken Spears is unlike others written about the loss of the empire because it was written from the point of the Aztecs and not the Spanish. As the book goes on, Miguel Leon-Portilla describes how the Spanish were successful in taking over the solid empire. The book really starts out by giving a clear background of the beliefs and culture. Motecuhzoma is seen as scary because he made his people surrender. I respect the Indians and Aztecs because their morals and customs were Christian like and seemed as if they did the right thing…
The prison door is important to the Puritan social order, whose unbendable certainty condemns and confines Hester. Like the door (oak is among the heaviest and most grounded of woods), the Puritans are fearless in their moral quality and along these lines, unsympathetic in their judgements. The iron spikes reinforce this delineation, drawing in thought with respect to the gathering's merciless judgements and reformatory character. The usage of oak in the line emphasizes the centrality of the prison and its importance in their world.…

You should also have copies of you insurance policies (both home and auto), prescription and health insurance cards, and important prescriptions . You will also need to place a small amount of cash in the kit. The kit should be small enough to grab in case you need to be evacuated. You should always take the kit with you even if you think you will be gone for only a short time. There are far to many stories of families who were evacuated for just a few days but later found that they were not able to return home until weeks or even months…
“The point was, the grace of it was, that it had nothing to do with sports. For I wanted no more of sports. They were barred from me, as though when Dr. Stanpole said, "Sports are finished" he had been speaking of me. I didn't trust myself in them, and I didn't trust anyone else. It was as though football players were really bent on crushing the life out of each other, as though boxers were in combat to the death, as though even a tennis ball might turn into a bullet.”…

“My theory on life is that life is beautiful. Life doesn't change. You have a day, and at night, and a mouth, and a year. We people change - we can be miserable or we can be happy. The three reasons why I think Cole has shown a change is, he owns up to things, Cole wants to go back to the island and Cole wants to help Peter through…
gear including clothes, food, and miscellaneous gear. One particular item I brought was a pair of hiking poles previously used by my brother when he participated in the same hike two years prior. The poles were made of aluminum, which was not used for heavy duty hiking but instead for lightweight or short-term hiking. I, however, did not see any problem with taking them because my brother had no problem using them. These lasted for about five days on the trail until a particular event occurred that…

The men make arrangements for the trip. They decide to bring a cover for the boat so they can sleep in it, rather than bringing a tent or staying in inns. They compile a long list of items to bring, but quickly realize that they should only pack the essentials. Although they are friends, J. seems to dislike Harris, and compares him at length to J.’s incompetent Uncle Podger. They end up bringing a hamper of food, clothing, a cover for the boat, and a methylated spirit stove for cooking. Packing takes a long time because the men keep forgetting items they need, and prove somewhat ill-fit for the task.…
