There are more & more immigrants coming to the US from Latinamerica and the American people are feeling threateend by them. They are afraid they will become a minority very soon.
This assignment deals with ”The Hispanic Challenge” illuminated through Samuel P. Huntingtons article, short stories and a census. ”I See You Never” by Ray Bradbry and ”Caramelo”, ”Mexico Next Right” by Sandra Cisneros have been used to show how the situation is for the Hispanics in the US, mostly the Mexicans.
At first there has been given an account on what Huntington is describing in his article, how he has a very negative attitude towards Hispanics and thereafter the fiction texts have been analysed. The immigrant’s situation have been analysed by a few tables from a census. And at the end Huntingtons article has been discussed and viewed at from other viewpoints. The fact that the Hispanics immigrate to the US in abundance won’t be of any meaning in the long term.
