On December 18, 1964 Cleveland State University was established. It has an enrollment of more than 17,000 students. CSU is committed to a hands on learning environment. Because it is a urban public university, they want to serve the community in a traditional sense as well as help with the redevelopment. Cleveland State University has alumnus that are now playing professional sports and that has made history in our government, such as Carl B. Stokes, the first African- American mayor of a major city that was Cleveland (Wikipedia, n.d.). In the late 1950’s Cleveland economic powerhouse started to declined after World War 2. Its population went from almost one million citizens and slowly started to decline until it hit close to 500,000. Boston, Washington DC, and Hamburg Germany were all beat out by Cleveland. The Gay Games is a cultural gathering organized by the LGBT community's athletes, artist, and musicians. There was an estimate of 10,000 people involved in the Gay Games from 60 different nations. At the games there were 35 sports events. It was held at the Quicken Loans Arena (Wikipedia, n.d.).
Prediction of Cleveland Future I believe that Cleveland has a lot to look forward to. It will look different in a few years. So much construction and developments and redevelopments are going on right now that I feel years ahead Cleveland will be completely remodeled for the better. Cleveland will reconstruct Downtown Cleveland, creating new business, towers, and apartments. I predict that Cleveland will remodel parks as well as add new ones. Cleveland may also expand on developments already done, such as the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, and different stadiums. Cleveland has much in stored for its citizens.
