The books The Hobbit and Ready Player One are very different. One takes place in a dystopian America and the other in a fantasy middle aged kingdom. But under the surface of the text, the books are much more similar than one might expect. The themes of each book are very similar along with the main Characters. So these observations show that The Hobbit, By J.R.R. Tolkien and Ready Player One, By Ernest Cline may be different in the way the Author writes and the world they take place in, but their themes are very similar.
To begin, a theme that appears in both The Hobbit and Ready Player One, is good versus evil. In The Hobbit Tolkien has many different subjects that are classified as good or evil. In The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins is a very shy Hobbit. Never would Bilbo be expected to be the one to go on adventure. He was an inexperienced fighter. But as the book went on there were many times when Bilbo was forced into being a hero. When the Goblins had captured the dwarves, it lied on Bilbo to save them and save them he did. Also when the company reached Erebor, Smaug cornered the dwarves. Bilbo could have escaped and saved himself, but instead he dropped a furnace on Smaug, saving the dwarves. Wade also was put into a similar situation. Wade had some knowledge about the easter egg, but was relatively poor in the Oasis. So when Wade stumbled upon the first gate, He was forced into being the one who would save the Oasis from the I.O.S.
