A small, peaceful hobbit named Bilbo Baggins goes on an unwanted adventure with 13 dwarves and a wizard named Gandalf. In the chapter, “Inside Information”, Bilbo begins to act more brave and starts to show the characteristics of a hero. In the movie Jackson changed the way that Smaug was first shown and how Bilbo met him and he also made Thorin more selfish and greedy about the treasure, these changes were effective in creating suspense using visual and audio techniques. For instance, Peter Jackson changes the way that Bilbo and Smaug first meet in the mountain. Bilbo and Smaug first meet when Bilbo is in the mountain looking at all the gold and treasures. In the novel Smaug is sleeping when Bilbo first sees him.
