The Holocaust: A Mass Murder Of European Jews

The Holocaust, a mass murder of European Jews led by Hitler and punished by Nazi Germany in the early/mid 1900’s ( Rossel 12 ). The Holocaust took place in the years of 1933 through 1945 ( “Introduction” par. 3 ), in the countries of Germany and Poland ( Rossel 32 ). Antagonists of this historical event include Nazis and their leader Adolf Hitler, enforcing cruelty upon the Jews of European nations ( Rossel 12 ). The Holocaust was the persecution of 6 million Jews and millions of others forced to live in ghettos, deported to camps, and systematically annihilated until the Allied forces liberated the remaining survivors. Jews were forced to move to ghettos because they were thought of as different. People like Hitler put the idea into people's heads that the Jews were evil. Many people thought they the Jews used non Jewish people as sacrifices every year. So anti Jews such as Hitler sent them to be separate from society ( Rossel 57 ). The countries of Canada, Great Britain, the United States, and also the Soviet Union liberated the Jews ( Blohm 8 ). The Jews liberation began in the year of 1944 and continued into 1945 ( Blohm 8 ). When rescuers entered the concentration camps, they saw nothing they'd ever expected to see. Piles of dead bodies laying around everywhere, inmates practically starved to death, barely surviving. They saw mass grave sites and crematoriums and uncovered the killing methods of the Nazis such as the gas chambers and gallows ( Blohm 9 ).
