The Hope Dealer Analysis

No one other than ourselves determines our outcomes as individuals, that is my impression of Mr. Bates’ presentation “The Hope Dealer”. Having a childhood and parents similar to his, striving to improve the life we can no control over with the one we now do. As long as there is hope, or determination not to be a product of our environment people from less than ideal homes do not have to let it define them, or follow in the same path. The only one to blame for our shortcomings is the same one who can change it for the better… US, No one else is at fault for the path our lives take.
A college degree for me means accomplishing a broader knowledge for not only my future and myself but also for those, I interact with on a daily basis. Along with
proving to all of those who told me it was a waste of time and money including my previous husband that laughed when I said I wanted to go back that I could, can and did do it. I did it all on my own while working two jobs, averaging 12 hours and getting all my studying done. Yes, it was hard yes, it was expensive yes, it was tiring, but I did it nonetheless without help from any of you. In five years I hope to be able to prove that to them and myself with my masters in forensic accounting, while do everything I can to help those who were not given a chance to succeed earlier in life.
TC has already given me so much towards furthering my education and achieving my dream thus far. The one thing I might say would help is having teachers/professors that would actually respond to emails. I take mainly online because it fits better with my schedule, but I find myself having to send the same question to teachers both online and in class multiple times before a response. More often than not, I am asking in regards to assignments, and have not the ability to catch them during office hours. TC has given me a valuable stepping-stone to further my life and dreams and that I am grateful for, it was the hope I needed in a very dark time in my life.
